“We go in and we lock ourselves in our own little world”

Our final film of 2023, marks the half way point in this season. A great moment to enjoy the company of a group of film obsessed, film makers – ‘A Bunch of Amateurs‘ (2022) (12A).

Bradford Movie Makers is one of the oldest amateur filmmaking clubs in the world. Once a thriving community, these days the membership is dwindling and the group struggle to keep the wolf from the door. Desperately clinging to their dreams, and to each other, this hilarious and moving portrait of artistic folly speaks to the delusional escapist dreamer in us all.

“as this terrific and very moving documentary shows, the society, fuelled by bickering, biscuits and cinephilia, is a lifeline for its members, who weather bereavements, loneliness and fiercely argued creative differences within its peeling walls” Wendy Ide, The Guardian (13 Nov 22)

The screening is on Fri 8 December – doors open at 7PM with the introduction starting at 7:30.

As its our screening closest to Christmas, we’ll also be serving complimentary mulled wine and the Scouts will have some no doubt delicious, Christmassy treats for you.

Please note, that in line with the BBFC classification, no one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. We recommend that you check the content advice for the film in advance.

The BBFC notes for this film are: “infrequent strong language, moderate sex references, drug references“

Sorry to miss tonight. I’ve had a bad cold all week and didn’t want to spread my germs to others just before Christmas.

    See you next time. Lisa.
