We hope that everyone had a good break and that you’re looking forward to our next offering this Friday (January 12).
I Daniel Blake is Ken Loach’s latest film. Fifty years since he shocked the nation with his TV play about homelessness, Cathy Come Home, he now gives his view of our benefits system. It won the Palme D’Or at the Cannes film festival.
The doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm.
We also have a special event later in the month. On Sunday 28th January we have our 4th International Film Day – this time it’s Germany. We start promptly at 2pm (doors open 1.30pm) with Goodbye Lenin, a hilarious take on the impact on East Berliners of the Wall coming down. There will then be short break for tasty German refreshments – and a picture quiz with a mystery prize. The afternoon will conclude with the film Run Lola Run, a fast-paced thriller about a young woman’s desperate attempt to save her lover. The event should finish shortly after 6pm. The cost for the afternoon is £8 (or 10€ ) per person. Tickets can be bought this Friday at our show or from the Town Hall prior to the event.
